Leisure- Act of laziness or Passion

The bustling activities in a day-to-day life would make one wonder, if there is ever is a time-out. Games we played as young, used to give us the liberty to take a time out, anytime we felt tired. Each one of us wonder today, if it is possible with the busy life. We ponder our thoughts and tell everyone that we would engage in activities we love like learning a new sport, going on a long vacation, read books etc, when we are done with our duties. However, deep down the line, we do know that time would run out before we could ever get free.

Leisure, usually related to a time we relax and sleep, in my terms is beyond that. Leisure time is one wherein we engage in endeavours we wish to do to relax our mind. It could be as simple as reading a comic, cooking a simple meal, recording a song etc. Leisure time is best utilised doing something meaningful. It could be used as a time to catch up with an old friend and surprising him/her. The joy in engaging with a friend is better than any entertainment like watching TV.  Spend time with parents, take them out for a walk, shopping or to eat out. Relaxation from work and daily chores is what I call leisure.

Set yourself free from the harsh truth of doing things later, as that time would never be treasured as it is today. Engage in religious activities, as it is the only relaxes your mind, but also the soul. Be a part of divine and spiritual activities to understand the best of inner self and experience a whole new perspective of life.

"Leisure, a pleasure, which is the real treasure".

Weather (or) Not

All of us have taken a plunge into the scorching heat in India. The rise has been enormous in most parts of the country. Adding to the woes is the fall in the level of water availability. However every person needs to maintain the water levels required in their individual bodies. As the title goes, wea(he)ther or not, meaning whether you face the harsh weather or not, it is my sole purpose to help you increase your hydration levels to stay cool and calm this summer. Here are few tips that would make you stay fresh and happy even under the scorching heat

  • Start every new day with a face wash with few drops of rose water in your last rinse
  • Start your day with 2 glasses of water, which not only helps in effective start of your body system, but also makes you feel light and energized.
  • Having a breakfast that healthy and refreshing would be most ideal for one to give a kick-start for a bashing day. Start with milk and cereals/have steamed food and include apple.
  • Having small portions of food every two to three hours, inclusive of water helps in keeping you filled and healthy
  • Include cucumbers, water melon, oranges, lemons in your intake
  • Go for coconut water instead of aerated drinks. It boost your body in the best way ever.

Call at the Mall

A rejoicing day, handful of joy, enjoying with the friends and all, a call at the mall. Ever thought that you could make your visit to the mall fun along with being it healthy? Well its the last sought desire for anyone who goes out to the mall. Malls are equipped with fun, frolic and food to the endless limits. First thought that flashes through our minds while thinking of a mall would be going for a movie or eating items that our taste buds crave for. However it could lead to making it more health wise wrong. Thus time to bring in a change.

A study revealed that going to a mall is actually healthy as people tend to walk more while shopping, thus reducing calories. On the other hand having a sweet tooth or craving for high calories filled stuffs would increase calories more than reducing it. Therefore healthier options would make it an exquisite visit. First of all, having a fresh fruit juice rather than fizz drink would give it a great kick start. Next goes a round of shopping. For lunch choose from range of salads and healthy shakes along with vegetable sandwich or a sizzler with more veggies. An evening snack could be taken in the form of yogurt desserts, chats like bhel puri etc. Evening dinner could be chosen from the range of exotic steamed starters like steamed wantons, pastas with tomato sauce and veggies, idli, etc. These options help you to experiment rather healthier options that are provided by various restaurants than just drooling over high calorie food. Go for fresh ground stuffs than those aerated or packaged food. It will not only make you mall experience refreshing but also ravishing.

Carry-(your)-Bags

The demographics of today’s generation are racing at a speed as that of a rocket into the space.  The amount of shopping than an average person does is more than his needs and requirements. The reasons for this being the wide variety of choices, higher pay among people and higher standard of living. With such advent the frequency of people visiting stores has increased (though the race for online shopping is quickly taking a pace ahead)
Shopping in the olden days used to be limited to the need s and requirements or carried on only during festivals and occasions. People used to carry their own bags so that they need not depend on the shopkeepers to provide them with their carriers. With times changing people believed that carrying cloth bags or rather jute bags in their hands while shopping would make them feel low or decrease their levels of attitude.
The recent law introduced wherein the shopkeepers charge for plastic bags from public (as seen in stores and malls) in most of the cities is followed thoroughly. It was an action to curb people from excessive use of plastic bags and clogging the environment. However ever wondered how much is the amount that is charged for such plastic bags. In comparison to the amount of shopping paying 5 or 10 rupees for each of the bag it really does not burn a hole in the pocket.
The stores and shop owners should instead support the environment in other ways. By charging for the plastic bags the storekeepers do not really think of well being of the environment. Rather they should provide jute and cloth bags for the purchases made by the customers. Paying a little higher for such bags may not seem feasible all the time for the customers. This will make customers’ realize that they need to carry their own bags (preferably cotton/jute) and also the stores will build a stronger and eco friendly environment.
If such interests are considered well by everyone even with a small initiative it will create a bigger impact on the society. It goes well by saying-

Carrying a plastic in hand will make no human great
An eco friendly gesture will positively change your fate.

Cross Publicity: Essentially a Boon?

Shopping, a term that is alluring and desirable to many at the same time depressing for a few (husbands to know it better :D In the times where recession and global slowdown that seeped in, it did not note a heavy change in the decrease in the number of people moving out for shopping. Trends have changed over the years and global environment comes to play a role in the shopping mania.

Many cities have viewed, experienced and made it habitual to carry along bags to make purchases for a condition that the plastic bags are now being charged so that there could be less consumption (as viewed in Chennai). Its need was to make people consume the older means of carrying along jute and paper bags. Walking along with a cover struck up with an marketing aspect of cross publicity while shopping at one of the stores.

People carry shopping bags of one store and make purchases at another giving an idea to other shoppers about a place from where one would have made purchases. I have termed this concept as Cross Publicity. For example I visited Big Bazaar and made purchases but had been carrying a bag of UCB which means I am indirectly alluring people to make purchases from UCB. This cross publicity holds advantage of advertising for another stores and shops which may or may not be known to people. On the other hand is it essentially a boon. In the stated situation does it really benefit Big Bazaar in any way.

In this case it has a "Non-Competitive Cross Publicity" as the two stores Big Bazaar and UCB are not directly related in terms of their products and services. Likewise two similar stores like those selling apparels, garments will face "Competitive Cross Publicity" wherein similar products and services are sold at both the stores. A thought that caught up while carrying out a leisure activity came out with a new marketing concept "Cross Publicity". Do u really think its that hard to promote?

Are u tech(knowledge)y enabled??

Nokia, iPhone, Android, Blackberry... the list goes on with its numerous primary products and its sub categories. The list is endless as there are so many companies emerging out of nowhere to make products compete with the leaders in the market. The economy is slowing down but is indirectly proportional to the number of purchases of gadgets. There is an enormous rise no matter where the economy is leading to. Wonder where from all that money comes. Also surprisingly people like before do not utilize these gadgets till the gadget cries out for freedom from being totally worn out. The purchase decision is made as soon as a new one comes up (which happens not once in blue moon, but every day moon is seen)

It proves otherwise when people buy gadgets without actually understanding the need and purpose of it. Do today's gadget stand only as a status of symbol to be held in hand and people go awww? Or is it truly of the value and amount that it proposes of? The answer lies in the beholder and the possessor of such gadgets. The ranges of products under various categories will keep increasing. It is truly owned only when the person could acquire the knowledge and hands on experience on how to use it and the means by which it could be explored to better usage. Go techie but do not get freaky.
